I had a thought this morning that I shared on "Beep Talk" (a listener service of Way of the Master Radio) about the following colloquialism:
"Why buy the cow if the milk is free?"
Well, my answer is this: "Well, the cow might not care that you're stealing--but the Farmer does!"

Thought you were safe?
This item from Yahoo! News makes us understand how helpless we really are to protect ourselves from grave danger. We really must rely on God for our day-to-day lives.

Kim Clijsters Retires
I didn't follow tennis a whole lot in my life time, but I do remember the Belgian tennis players. Clijsters, Justine Henin-Hardenne, and a couple others. Seems that at 23 one of them has decided to call it quits.
You know, that takes some kind of humility, retiring so young. Saying, "I can't do this anymore," takes a lot of guts at such a young age. No matter how much money one makes, many people say to keep going until you get it all, break all the records, etc. She stopped short. Some things are more important than money, she said.
That's the best serve you've ever made, Kim. Good job, kid. God bless you and your family.

Joshua Morgan Hancock
For those of you who did not know, Josh Hancock, one of the St Louis Cardinals' relief pitchers, died very early Sunday morning. The Cardinal Nation is mourning.
This is one author's perspective.
True, St Louis lost a great pitcher, but a mother also lost her son. And the human race lost another human being. That ticker just keeps on going. More people just like Josh, only less famous, are dying, too. How long are you going to wait to get right with God? How long are you going to wait to tell others to get right with God? Tomorrow is not promised.

The Good Person Test
Have you ever taken the Good Person Test? It's a three question test to see if you are a good person. Ready?
1) Have you ever told a lie? If you have, what does that make you if you tell a lie?
2) Have you ever stolen anything? What does that make you if you steal?
3) Have you ever hated anyone? What does that make you if you hate someone?
The correct answers are a Liar, a Thief, and a Murderer at heart. Now, if this is how we face God on Judgment Day, how will He deal with us? The Bible says that "all liars will have their part in the Lake of Fire." It promises that no thief will make it into Heaven. It declares, "Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and we know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him." That tells me that we all deserve to go to Hell, agreed?
But here's the good news: "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." God sent Jesus to pay the fine that we owe for breaking God's Law. Then Jesus rose from the dead and defeated death. Now He offers to share that victory with those who will repent (turn from sin toward God) and put their trust in Him to save them from the wrath of God on Judgment Day. Isn't that Good News?

The Golden Rule
Let’s talk about the Golden Rule. Most people say, “Oh, I’m a good person. I live by the Golden Rule. I treat people how I want to be treated.” Jesus said that loving your neighbor as you love yourself is the summary of the Ten Commandments. So we are going to take a look at a few of them to see if you indeed do live by the Golden Rule.
Have you ever told a lie? What does that make you?
Have you ever stolen anything—even if it’s small? What does that make you?
Have you ever hated anyone? Most people say, “No,” but when you ask them if they have ever insulted anyone or cursed at someone, they say, “Yes.” Well, that’s not exactly loving your neighbor as you love yourself, is it?
Now, here is what the Bible says about all this:
“…and all liars shall have their part in the Lake of Fire.” (Revelation 21:8)
“No…thief…shall inherit the kingdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)
“He who hates his brother is a murderer, and we know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.” (1 John 3:15).
So, if the Ten Commandments are God’s standard for the Golden Rule (and Jesus said that they are), how will you really do on Judgment Day?
If you are honest, you will admit that you deserve to go to Hell, just like the rest of us. And if you can admit that, then I have some Great News for you: God does not want you to go to Hell. God sent Jesus to die for our sins, so that all of our sins—past, present, and future—can be forgiven. But we must come to God for forgiveness, and Jesus said, “Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:5)
Do you know what it means to repent? Proverbs 28:13 says, “He who covers his sins shall not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes his sins shall obtain mercy.” Confession is simply admitting to God that you have broken His Laws by the way that you have lived (by lying, stealing, hating, etc.); forsaking is simply turning away from and abandoning that way of life. Doesn’t mean that you’ll be perfect, but it does mean that you will daily increase in Holiness.
Jesus said, “If you continue in My Word, then you are my disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-32) Please read your Bible daily and obey what you read. God will never fail to keep any of His promises.

Damien Nash
Damien Nash was a pro football player who played in college at the University of Missouri (Mizzou). He died about two weeks ago. Just dropped dead.
He had everything going for him, and it was all taken from him suddenly by the unbreakable jaws of Death. And there was nothing he could do about it.
You, too, will die someday. You will also be ruthlessly robbed by those same unbreakable jaws. And there is nothing you can do about it either.
The Bible says that there is life on the other side of the grave, Heaven or Hell, depending on how you qualify. Take a close look at yourself, because no one here will be able to speak for you on Judgment Day.
Have you ever told a lie?
Have you ever stolen anything?
Have you ever hated anyone?
If you have said yes to any of these things, please know the truth:
The Bible says, "...and all liars shall have their part in the Lake of Fire." (Rev. 21:8)
It makes it clear that no thief can enter heaven (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).
It further declares, "Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and we know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him." (1 John 3:15; see also Matthew 5:21-22)
"But," you say, "I am a good person! I don't do these things all the time!"
Try that in court: it won't work on Judgment Day either.
God is Holy, Righteous, and Just--He will punish all sin.
"Every idle word that a man shall speak, he shall give an account thereof on the Day of Judgment." (Matthew 12:36)
Every secret deed done in darkness shall be brought to the light. (see Luke 8:17)
"[You can] be sure your sin will find you out." (Numbers 32:23)
"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." (Galatians 6:7)
For those of us who can admit that we deserve to burn in Hell, there is good news:
God sent forth His only begotten Son, Jesus of Nazareth, to take our punishment. Now, if we humble ourselves and repent, God can give us eternal life--instead of Eternal Justice--on Judgment Day.
He had everything going for him, and it was all taken from him suddenly by the unbreakable jaws of Death. And there was nothing he could do about it.

The Pizza Illustration
I cannot take credit for this: I learned it from Gabe Graham of The Great News Orlando while we were Miami for an Evangelism Boot Camp on Super Bowl Weekend (no, I did not get to go to the game, but that was okay: Saving souls is much higher on my priority list).
Imagine your favorite pizza, nice and hot, just the way you like it.
Now, I am going to ruin your favorite pizza. (WARNING: DO NOT KEEP READING IF YOU HAVE RECENTLY EATEN OR ARE EATING RIGHT NOW.) <--YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, SO YOU CAN'T SUE ME!!
Imagine that someone put a large piece of dog feces on your favorite pizza. Would you still eat it?
What if that person only put a small piece on it? Would you still eat it?
What if that person grated some dog feces and just sprinkled it on your favorite pizza? Would you eat it?
What if that person put some dog feces on your favorite pizza, and wiped it off? Would you eat it?
Not if you are in your right mind. Because nothing about that pizza will ever make you ingest dog feces. The dog feces has thoroughly corrupted the entire pizza, and it is good for nothing but to be thrown away.
Now, you may claim to be a good person, but think about this: no matter how good a person you are, if you are corrupted by sin AT ALL, then God cannot let you into Heaven. No sin, whatsoever, will enter Heaven. Period.
And you can go from there into the Good Person Test, etc. That's the pizza illustration!

New Train Sermon
There are three scientific statements in the Bible that I generally use to prove to people that they should trust the Bible's statements and wait for science to catch up:
1) The earth is round. The Bible has said this (in Isaiah 40:22) more than 2000 years before Columbus went against the popular beliefs of the time (foisted by the false church of his day) and agreed with the Bible in his search for a path to India.
2) The earth hangs upon nothing, floating in space. God had revealed this to Job (26:7) loooooong before scientists realized this only within the last few hundred years (Job is the oldest book in the Bible). Interestingly, everyone else (who also thought that the earth was flat) thought that the earth sat on the back of an elephant, or a turtle, or some guy named Atlas.
3) The life of the flesh is in the blood. This seemingly religious statement is buried among ceremonial laws in Leviticus 17:11, but it is a powerful scientific truth. Doctors of old believed that sickness was caused by bad blood; therefore, they used "blood-letting" to remove the bad blood, hoping that the patient would have good blood remaining. They killed a lot of people this way, including America's first President, George Washington.
In all of these cases, those who held to the Biblical teaching were ridiculed and mocked and persecuted. But they were right. And time and science vindicated them. How many more thousands of years are you going to wait for science to tell you to get right with God?
There is a universal truth: ten out of ten people die. One day, all that we hold dear will be cruelly snatched from us by the unforgiving, unbreakable jaws of death. Only one Man has conquered death, but He only did so for sinners. You need to know if you qualify for Heaven.
Ask yourself, "Have I ever told a lie?" If you have, you should know that the Bible says that "all liars shall have their part in the Lake of Fire."
Ask yourself, "Have I ever stolen anything, even something small?" If you have, you should know, that the Bible declares that no thief will make it into Heaven.
Ask yourself, "Have I ever hated anyone?" If you have, then you should know, that the Bible makes it clear, "He who hates his brother is a murderer and we know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in Him."
Now, if the thought of going to Hell scares you, which it should, there is Good News: God provided a way for Justice to be served and Mercy given. He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins. If we repent, God can give us eternal life, instead of Eternal Justice, on Judgment Day.

The Universal Truth--Version Two
There is a universal truth: ten out of ten people die. One day, all that we hold dear will be cruelly snatched from us by the unforgiving, unbreakable jaws of death. Only one Man has conquered death, but He only did so for sinners. Let’s see if you qualify for Heaven.
Have you ever told a lie? God created a special part in Hell just for liars.
Have you ever stolen anything? God will not allow thieves into Heaven.
Have you ever hated anyone? The Bible says, “He who hates his brother is a murderer and we know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in Him.”
But there is no good reason for anyone to go to Hell. God provided a way for Justice to be served and Mercy given. He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins. If we repent, God can give us eternal life, instead of Eternal Justice, on Judgment Day.

First Hand
Another Sunday mornin', same old you
Hoping that the preacher's preachin's almost through
Not sure you need to hear this
Seems like you've heard this all before
A hundred times or more!
All this information second hand
Is there something more that you don't understand?
It's a way of life you're missin'
Where the Word becomes a part of you!
Walking everyday with Jesus, finding out His promises are true!!
Chorus:
Living life first hand:
Learning the truth straight from the Father
Living life first hand:
There's no middle man, when you walk with the Lord first hand!
"It's all in your mind," the world will say
But this is something that they can't explain away
Not just some fancy talkin', or just some emotion that you feel
It's a life of first-hand-walking, finding out His promises are real!!

The Last Day
I pull over to the side of the road and I
Watch the cars pass me be
The headlights and the black limousine tell me
Someone is saying goodbye
I bow my head and I whisper a prayer,
“Father, Comfort their broken hearts”
And as I drive away there’s a thought that I
I cannot escape, no I, cannot escape this thought
I can’t get away
Oh, if this should be my last day here on earth
How then shall I live
Oh, if this should be the last day that I have
Before I breathe the air of heaven
Let me live it with abandon to
The only thing that remains
After my last day here on earth
If this should be my last day here on earth
If this should be my last day here on earth
If this should be my last day here on earth
If this should be my last day here on earth
And if tomorrows comes to find me
Looking in the face of Jesus
Will I hear Him say the words “well done”?
Oh, if this should be my last day on this earth
How then shall I live
Oh, if this should be the last day that I have
Before I breathe the air of heaven
Let me live it with abandon to
The only One that remains
After my last day here on earth
If this should be my last day here on earth
If this should be my last, my last day here on earth
Cause this could be my last, this could be my last
THIS COULD BE MY LAST DAAAAAAY!!!!

I cannot escape, no I, cannot escape this thought
I can’t get away
Oh, if this should be my last day here on earth
How then shall I live
Oh, if this should be the last day that I have
Before I breathe the air of heaven
Let me live it with abandon to
The only thing that remains
After my last day here on earth
If this should be my last day here on earth
If this should be my last day here on earth
If this should be my last day here on earth
If this should be my last day here on earth
And if tomorrows comes to find me
Looking in the face of Jesus
Will I hear Him say the words “well done”?
Oh, if this should be my last day on this earth
How then shall I live
Oh, if this should be the last day that I have
Before I breathe the air of heaven
Let me live it with abandon to
The only One that remains
After my last day here on earth
If this should be my last day here on earth
If this should be my last, my last day here on earth
Cause this could be my last, this could be my last
THIS COULD BE MY LAST DAAAAAAY!!!!

The Universal Truth
There is a universal truth: ten out of ten people die. One day, all that we hold dear will be cruelly snatched from us by the unforgiving, unbreakable jaws of death. Only one Man has conquered death, but He only did so for sinners. Let’s see if you qualify for Heaven.
Have you ever told a lie? God created a special part in Hell just for liars.
Have you ever stolen anything? God will not allow thieves into Heaven.
Have you ever hated anyone? The Bible says, “He who hates his brother is a murderer and we know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in Him.”
Why did Jesus die and rise again? He is God in the flesh: He took the penalty for our sins. If we repent, then He can bless us with His victory over death. Otherwise, He’ll have to give us justice on Judgment Day.

"Carry My Cross"
A kid put this video together on his myspace. I just love the song. The video's not bad, either. Good job, Jesiah!
